The position is based in Calverton, Maryland (in the suburbs of Washington, DC) with 20-30% international travel.

The Technical Writer/Editor will have primary responsibility for working with vaccine project teams, technical staff, and others to write and edit materials that provide clear and concise information on malaria vaccine development and related scientific activities for the scientific community, policymakers, and donors.

Scientific Officer, Vaccine Development

PATH's Vaccine Development Global Program's goal is the acceleration of the development of vaccines to prevent disease in populations most at risk for pneumococcal, rotavirus, pandemic influenza, and other diseases in the developing world. Within this program, the Pneumococcal Vaccine Project (PVP) is working to create a portfolio of vaccine development projects which will lead to an increase of safe, effective, and affordable pneumococcal vaccines for use in the developing world. The Scientific Officer will report directly to the PVP Director and be responsible for the basic scientific review and assessment of technologies and vaccine candidates related to Streptococcus pneumoniae.
