Assistant Professor Global Health and Development

The Departments of International Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies invite applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor to begin September 2012 in the field of global health and development. We seek a scholar who will hold a Ph.D. by the time of appointment and whose expertise addresses one or more of the following: political, economic and cultural drivers of health vulnerability and resilience; the political economy of institutions addressing health related issues; variations in health and healing practices as they relate to culture, development and human security; comparative healthcare delivery systems; relationships between health, education, and economic development; gender, health and development; the impact of the HIV/AIDs pandemic and other diseases; hunger, malnutrition and development; and best practices in development interventions. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to the interdisciplinary exploration of contemporary issues in international studies and enhance the diversity efforts of both departments as well as the university. Candidates must have a high degree of proficiency in a language appropriate for their regional specialization. The annual teaching load at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels will be four courses in International Studies and one course in Women’s and Gender Studies, on the quarter system. Job Description
The Program Assistant will provide a wide range of administrative duties for the DC office of the Center for International Health (CIH), a division of the International Development Group (IDG) at RTI. This position will support CIH’s (primarily USAID-funded) work in malaria, neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), and health policy. This position will be based in Washington, DC.
