Swala.org, the Global Health Community, is launched!
I am proud to announce the launch of Swala.org after a summer of work preparing the site, designing graphics, configuring the system and determing the right elements. There is still quite a bit of work to do on the site, but I feel that it is at a point where it features quite a bit of good resources and the available features are fully functional. So, you may ask, what is functional? Well, right now, the CareerCenter section is more or less complete. The Community section is still a work-in-progress but its Forums and Communities of Practice sections are working. I do not yet have up a member directory nor are the user profiles all that great looking but those are both on the agenda.
Over the course of the next few weeks, my gameplan is to continue to add new features to these Community section and work on getting up the Global Health KnowledgeBase section which may end up being the most useful site section. Part of my insistence in getting the site up today has been that since it is a social networking site, it will rely heavily on the input of you members to contribute to the site to make it useful. So, I need the site up so start recruiting members.
As you use the site, please let me know what you think about it via the feedback form, or if I happen to be online, feel free to private message me. Since the site is also still a bit of a work in progress (pardon the dust, please) if you happen to see any bugs, please also drop me a line about them. Cheers!
