Position Description
Crown Agents USA, Inc. (CA-USA) is seeking a Supply Chain Operations Manager for a USAID-funded health commodities supply chain project in Malawi.

Project Background
USAID has an on-going program to support the health sector in Malawi covering family planning, maternal child health, nutrition, malaria and HIV/AIDS. Supply chain management of public health commodities represents a key area for USAID in Malawi. The objective of the new procurement is to build on gains made in the past as well as to solidify and grow technical capacity, collaboration, and implementation of the various actors involved in the procurement, distribution, storage, and dispensation of medical supplies. Overall, a safe, secure and consistent supply of commodities represents an essential component of public health. Malawi’s supply chain for pharmaceuticals and other essential health commodities faces many challenges. The overall goal of this project is to ensure that the people of Malawi have access to adequate quantities of affordable essential medicines and health supplies of high quality by strengthening the national supply chain for essential health commodities.
Responsibilities and Duties
- As required, support Ministry of Health (MoH) and Central Medical Stores (CMS) in quantification & forecasting of health commodity requirements at the national level including products related to HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and other opportunistic infections.
- Advise clients and stakeholders in importation and customs clearance of health commodities as required.
- Advise in the development of a commodity security plan.
- Assess and make recommendations regarding warehousing, inventory management procedures as well as timely & effective distribution channels from CMS.
- Train MoH & CMS staff in supply chain operations relating to warehousing, inventory and distribution.
Necessary Skills and Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in health commodities supply chain management.
- Experience in assessing policies, systems and structures in the public and/or private health sector relevant for managing effective and efficient access to pharmaceuticals and other health products
- Strong understanding of health commodity markets dynamics and existing global supply challenges as well as international health-products procurement and supply management processes.
- Good report writing and analytical skills.
- Professional training or experience in health commodity supply chain subjects.
- BA in public health, pharmacy or other relevant field. Masters preferred.
- USAID experience strongly preferred.
