Position Description
An exciting opportunity is available to assist in the growth of SIC’s monitoring and evaluation, program development, and volunteer support. We are seeking a highly qualified individual to take on the role of Program Officer in Tanzania. The position includes responsibilities related to monitoring and evaluation, fieldwork, and grantwriting, as well as responsibility for supervising a 10-week volunteer program, following SIC’s successful model.
Responsibilities and Duties
Key responsibilities will include:
• To oversee and monitor data collection for SIC evaluations, such as supervising survey teams, conducting focus group discussions, etc.;
• To identify evaluation needs and design appropriate assessments in order to gather data to inform program developments;
• To document program successes through photography, interviews, and field visits;
• To assist with monthly and quarterly reports to funders and governmental officials;
• To improve and develop ongoing monitoring systems and forms;
• To assist with grant research and writing;
• To contribute to the monthly newsletter, as appropriate;
• Take overall responsibility for all Tanzania-based aspects of the development, planning, execution and evaluation of a volunteer-run awareness campaign;
• Account appropriately for money used in the administration of the volunteer program, and follow budget guidelines;
• Supervise and support volunteer program coordinators;
• Maintain regular communication with SIC staff in the Tanzania and the US;
• To assist with day to day activities in the SIC office and to perform other tasks as instructed by the Tanzania Managing Director.
Necessary Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, preference given to applicants with a graduate degree in public health, international development, or a related field;
• Work experience in international development or public health, preferably in Africa;
• Strong English language skills, both oral and written;
• Experience in data monitoring and program evaluation;
• Proven ability to work creatively and independently;
• Competence in Swahili preferred.
