Position Description
The Development Executive Group is assisting an international, nonprofit, nongovernmental health organization in finding a Deputy Project Director for a forthcoming USAID-funded project. The project will seek to establish a mechanism for HIV prevention program research and evaluation, identify and address gaps in HIV prevention programming knowledge; provide tools for developing and evaluating promising prevention intervention models; and bolster the evidence base for improving and scaling up effective HIV prevention programs worldwide, with emphasis on Sub-Saharan Africa.
Responsibilities and Duties
Necessary Skills and Qualifications
Required Skills/Criteria
- Masters degree in public health, social sciences, or related field
- Proven record of excellent management, leadership, decision-making and interpersonal skills
- Relevant program experience in the area of HIV prevention and social science/behavioral research
- Extensive experience (minimum of five years) in monitoring and evaluating health programs in developing countries
- Demonstrated experience with and understanding of PEPFAR monitoring and evaluation requirements
- Experience interacting with USG agencies, host country governments, and major multilateral donors is preferred
- Ability to work with and manage a diverse international team
- Availability to travel overseas up to 30% of the time
- US work authorization
Preferred Skills/Criteria
- Experience managing large HIV prevention programs
- Supervisory, management, communication and excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience with program quality assurance and quality improvement
- Proven ability to manage budgets and provide financial management and accountability
- Experience in operations, programmatic and behavioral research
- Experience interacting with USAID and other bilateral donors
