The Swala Team / About the Swala System
Hi and Welcome to Swala.org!
Swala.org was started in the Summer of 2007 initially as a small project to help fellow Global Health professionals and new Masters in Public Health graduates more easily find pertinent information on the Internet. The idea has now grown and encompasses a whole variety of information - still with the same purpose of helping Global Health professionals to easily share and find resources and knowledge to enable them to better run Global Health programs in developing countries.
I am always interested in hearing what everyone thinks of this "project", how it should evolve and whether it is useful. Currently I am the sole manager of the project. I am a recent graduate of Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health and Goizueta Business School. My undergraduate degree was in Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. During my past four years of academic education I had the opportunity to intern at a number of Global Health organizations including the Tanzania Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination Programme and the Centers for Disease Control. But it is quite fair to say that I am just at the beginning of my career - in fact one of the reasons for beginning Swala was to create opportunities to make connections with fellow Global Health professionals so as to continue my learning from these great mentors.
I created the Swala website using the Drupal content management system. A number of modules were used and for those of you familiar with it you will recognize the modules used. I did the design for the site as well.
if you are interested in helping out or supporting/sponsoring Swala so I can devote more time to the project, you can reach me by using the feedback form located here.
